Fun in the Sun

I created this artwork for a contest currently happening over at my friend’s Unofficial 3D Forums. The contest was started and is sponsored by user alt3dartist. The theme of the contest is “Fun in the Sun” and as soon as I saw that, this idea popped into my head, so I just had to enter! Also, the chance at $25 didn’t hurt either. LOL This is my first attempt at creating 3D water effects inside of Poser with morphable planes. It was quite the learning curve, no pun intended, but I eventually figured it out and I think it turned out quite well. I also had yet another chance to use my new Lightwave toy… er… software.

The ocean water was a little tricky to create. The water prop that came with the beach set didn’t look right to me in Superfly, so I deleted it and decided to create something of my own. I used a box primitive and enlarged it about 1000 or 5000% then created my own refractive, volumetric ocean water Superfly material to apply to it. I think it turned out quite well! While the splash effects that she’s “kicking” were rendered in Poser, the small waves crashing onto the beach and her other leg were actually painted in by me via Photoshop. I played around with the colors a little bit in Photoshop but then I took it into Lightroom and really made the scene into what it is now; a vivid and bright scene like one might find on a travel brochure!
