Falling to Pieces

I’m not going to get into what is going on in my personal life here. You can check my personal blog for that sob story. Needless to say, I’m falling to pieces and so is everything else. The idea for this artwork came to me easily. I haven’t made an emotional piece like this in quite a while; haven’t been in this sort of emotional state for it in a while. I’m trying to rebuild myself, once again, but it will take time and a lot of work. Hopefully my next artwork, which I’ll begin work on momentarily, will be of a less depressive nature but this needed to be expressed.

I used a single soft area light to light this scene in Poser 12 Superfly as I wanted thick, dark shadows and low light to drive a singular focus. The falling house of cards is a single, and really cool, prop. (I didn’t spend countless hours building a house of cards myself. That in itself would have been even more maddening. The tears on her face are actual conforming models rather than additional textures or props for which I’m grateful. They work fantastically and far better than the alternatives. In Photoshop I enhanced the contrast with a simple trick, I doubled the render on another layer and then set the second layer to “soft light” and then adjusted the opacity as need. I then took the image into Lightroom and adjusted the colors and such as I wanted to, minimized the noise, and added a vignette effect. Back in Photoshop, I added my logo.
